On paper we both earn well 拢40,000, but living in Edinburgh is expensive and our mortgage, council tax and car bills are high which leaves us very little left over. Also once the baby is born my income will fall substantially (I am the main earner) to just over 拢100 per week in maternity allowance. maybe when your child is in school you may get funding there. Welcome to parenthood. You should have thought about the financial impact before you got pregnant. Maybe you need to move or get and extra job.Take care of your own responsibilities. You decided to have the baby, you take care of it.
Move to a smaller house, get rid of a car and/or replace them with less expensive ones. It's a fact of life, if you can't afford the lifestyle you have, you have to reduce your lifestyle. Welcome to the real world. Sux, don't it :(
Move somewhere less expensive if you can't afford it. Also check out anything the goverment can do to help, like government programs, etc..
In Australia there is no paid maternity leave....I went back to work part time 4 weeks after my daughter was born
That's not helpful to you, but, do you and your husband have parents that could help out so you could go back to work partime or can you work from home? Is there a different job you could do and work from home? Other than that. you may have to sell one of your cars and catch public transport or sell your house and buy one you can afford....pretty drastic but, there are enough stresses with a new baby, money is he worst stress there is (been there done that)
