Parents, how long do you spend on teaching your child the ABCs and 123s at home before he enters kindergarten?

How do you teach them to your child and for how long?Parents, how long do you spend on teaching your child the ABCs and 123s at home before he enters kindergarten?
We started when they were about 1 or even younger if you consider reading those baby books to be *working on it*. We made sure they understood/ knew each letter of the alphabet and could sound each letter out. I also did preschool hooked on phonics and they could read small books before starting Kindy.

As far as numbers go, we counted cheerios, m%26amp;m's, goldfish crackers etc during snack time from the time they could walk. By the age of 3 or 4 we were doing addition and subtraction (count how many cheerios are there.. now take away 2... now count how many are left).Parents, how long do you spend on teaching your child the ABCs and 123s at home before he enters kindergarten?
everywhere you go and incorporate it into everything you do

sing it in the car ..while doing laundry, walking down the street.

count everything !From the steps you take on the walk, blue cars you see,...trees,.. dogs,.. people with hats

..take turns ..alternate you say one I say 2... make it fun
For most of their early lives, I read to them, played games and did puzzles involved the ABCs and numbers. They didn't have it perfect, but they knew enough to have a good start in school.
