My son downloads games to the computer, I just don't know how to keep it up anymore, we have anti virus from Norton, but for some reason we still getting it, we go through a new computer at a rate of once a year, is there any safer to computer to perchase for school age child?
We grounded him a few days ago for downloading a video from the computer. He made me so pissed, because we just changed that computer 6 months ago. Everytime we try to fix it we had to cut all the memories. What are the safest computer a parent can buy from her child?
The best thing I can advise is use the recovery disks you got with your computer and redo your whole system. That will mean the only things that will be on their is the software that came with it. If you have like yahoo messenger and things you will need to reinstall them. You should make sure your anti-virus is up to date and active. I recommend checking for updates every day or two. Then running a full system scan every time you download anything and at least once a week. This should help. You might want to go to the system restore and use it on your computer it may get rid of the virus. **First thing to do is go to the symantec website it is www.symantec.com I believe and down load any new anti-virus definitions and so on that they have. Then run a full system sweep of your computer. That may get rid of the problem. Best of luck. :)What are the safest computer a parent can buy from her child?
there is no safe computer. the computer is a tool like any other, it's the operator that makes it dangerous. you don't know how to maintain or administer a computer so you have two choices, learn to administer a computer or hire a professional to administer your computer. once that is accomplished then you will be able to keep a machine. i am willing to bet that you have thrown away several perfectly good computers because you are ignorant of how to take care of them.
If you buy your child a computer do not let it be connected to the Internet. get your self an external hardrive to store all your photos, videos on. if your child is on the Internet set your Internet zone higher get a program that or Check out the link this program works well. It is called nabyoo. I don't know how old your child is but, they shouldn't be on the Internet unsupervised at any age.
GOOD LUCK !
If viruses are the problem get Linux for the operating system. Its way less likely to get a virus.
If you don't know much about computers though, get him a mac. They aren't as good as Linux but are easy to use so I heard.
have you tried getting a Spyware remover? you can purchase at computer store or online. try searching in google or yahoo.
is a tool for deleting virus and spyware on your computer because sometimes you think your downloading a song or a video it could be a harmful virus. good luck!
Wow. That sounds troublesome. Well I'd consider getting a net-nanny. OR you can go on the Norton Anti-Virus, and set a password that your son will NEVER EVER GUESS. Then just block certain sites from there. I hope this helps. It's not the computer... it's the software on it and what you do with it.
I don't know if this will help, but I have had Norton on many computers before, and it is not a good anti virus. Do you have 2 computers? You could get a program that could see what your son is doing from your computer... Hope this helps! :)

Try using monitoring software like our PC Pandora. If you are monitoring, you will be able to see exactly where he is going and doing. Then you can put the right block into place (with the software). It'll also let you know what he did exactly, for a better chance of recovering with only minimal damage.
