Is it serious to have a parent with a personality disorder?

Even if you not in contact with the for few years? Just the fact that you do have one?Is it serious to have a parent with a personality disorder?
It should not affect you on a personal basis but depending on the severity and type of personality disorder it could affect your parent.

I would require more details to give a more focussed and detailed answer. Is it serious to have a parent with a personality disorder?
Yes I guess it is. If you were brought up by them then the life you lead might have been more neglectful then if you have a parents without a personality disorder and therefore you may have issues around your childhood which affects your life now. There might be concerns that the personality disorder is hereditry and therefore something you worry about so you could say it is serious from that point of view. If you had a great childhood, are happy now and have no problems at all then I guess having a parent with a personality disorder wouldnt be serious - but then I suppose you wouldnt be asking this question if that was the case. So yes it is serious if it is serious to you. Seek councelling advice/support or speak to your doctor for further information or reassurance.
it can be serious if for no other reason than they are your parent and you can become responsible for their actions once they lose their mind
It depends what disorder. Some are genetic, most are not.
