What punishment should be given to parents who abandon their children to go out drinking with their mates?

What the McCanns did was what thousands of us have done on holiday. Most stay in a hotel, we put our young children to bed, tuck them up,lock yes lock their bedroom door and go down to the restaurant on the ground floor thinking they are safe, but are they. ? If a fire broke out in their room yes kids play with matches , the door is locked. Who has a key to that door? cleaners, reception so anyone can, if they want get in, and abduct our children if they so wish. This according to you is an heinous crime ? The McCanns were in a similar position. They were 5 minutes away, same as a hotel where you have to go up a lift along a corridor to get to the children's room Not much difference I think. IF you are right then thousands of us parents are also guilty.Just pause and think of that.

Perhaps if they were having drinks with a meal very close by and checking in on their kids every 20-30 minutes we could say they were being just as responsible as the unfortunate family that had a child taken from an upstairs bathroom and pity them if any tragedy was to befall their children.
Hunny,if these three children where left alone, child services should be called and they should be removed from the home, it is not safe for three small children to be at home alone.
They should have their children taken away till they get there head straight, parents should never do this!
I think they should be provided with their own PR spokesman as soon as they get caught,and it should be paid for by this government.


And i think all people guilty of neglect should be taken to the vatican to meet the Pope.


However;


any working class people abandoning the kids they should be nicked.


And they WOULD be nicked.


Also i think they should be allowed to beg for as much money (via the scorcery of the digital fulcrum)


off little schooolkids,old women etc.After all it is all about exploiting the vulnerable.

i think everyone is entitled to go for a drink but only if you have a babysitter you know and trust ( in my case my mother in law and no one else), if you've no babysitter like on holiday you take them with you or you go home early.. alcohol should never come before your children though, oh i forgot and the punishment is (they have to live with their actions for the rest of there lives), ';insanity';.
Take the children away from the parent who obviously cares more about alcohol than the children. If the children were injured as a result of being left alone, then possible criminal charges also. People like that should never be allowed to have children.
Is that to all parents who do that or did you have anyone particular in mind Elvis, sorry I mean Dave.
They should get community service to see what disadvantaged children end up like if they are neglected.

I assume you mean the McCanns. Well, why did they have IVF (I suppose they REALLY wanted children) and then leave these children defenceless. After all they are supposed to be intelligent adults.


Anyway, back to the question. Get in Social Services
Dave s is that the real you or a fake face, and i think the punishment they are suffering is enough and should be left only.
Well as these parents have their priorities all wrong and are not concerned about the welfare of their children i think that the children should be placed on the at risk register and the parents be subject to a social services and police investigation for emotional abuse , neglect and possible abandonment





Children should never be left alone under any circumstances .





All parents have a responsibility to protect their children and nurture them in a safe environment





Anyone who fails at the basics of parenting really needs to be investigated and made to take parenting classes
It depends on how old the children are, and where they oxidising them.





But it's very wrong, they might get a visit from social services but as i said it depends!

People tell me I should be out enjoying myself - but guess what I got pregnant, I have responsibilities. I stay at home with my little man and I love it!


It even bothers me that friends/friends of friends leave their kids with parents etc to go out on the piss. If you have kids you do it to enjoy them not land them on other people. I rarely go out - if I do my partner stays home and vice versa, though the last time we actually went 'out' was November, before that was probably June.





I don't mean that people should really face death, but parenting classes with the threat of having the kids removed from them if they fail to attend/keep going out anyway would be a good idea I think.
the parents should have a care order placed on them for at least 2 years to prove they are capable parents and then if they are lucky be able to look after their children themselves, but they always should be watched
I was gonna say is this question about the Mccanns.. Yeah, they should be prosecuted for negligence in my opinion anyway, and serve 6 months in some filthy portuguese prison, and a further 18 months back in the UK

As long as their kids are left with a responsible adult and it is an occasional (once or twice a year) outing, nothing. If they live the kids alone or do it often, they should have their reproductive organs removed with a dull knife and a bullet to bite on for the pain.
Oh for Gods sake can't people give it a rest with the McCann witchhunt - how on earth do you think they must have been feeling for the past year? As a parent myself i'd be in absolute torment and so must they. I'm pretty sure they must have regretted their actions bitterly since then - but how many other people out there have done something similar? Maybe left their children in a car whilst nipping into a shop for a few minutes? Popping out of the house to post a letter when the baby is asleep? None of us are saints - please show some compassion and humanity towards this family.
