How did you convince your stubborn parents to let you get a dog?

I am 26 and currently living at home to save $$ to buy a house. I really want a dog. The folks don't. I have two cats already that I brought home with me. Any suggestions?

How did you convince your stubborn parents to let you get a dog?
Even though you are 26 years old, that doesn't mean you can get a pet. You still live at home with your parents, Granted you are an adult, It's there house, there rules. Until you get your own place, you have to respect there wishes.

PS: CALLING YOUR PARENTS STUBBORN BECAUSE YOU WANT A DOG SHOWS HOW IMMATURE YOU ARE. A DAMN 13 YEAR OLD DOES THAT, NOT A GROWN PERSON!How did you convince your stubborn parents to let you get a dog?
Sorry to sound rude but you are living at home...you're parents home!

When you own your own home you will perhaps see that you're parents aren't 'stubborn' but that it's their home and not yours.

The second thing is when you are a parent, you can reflect on all the times you thought about when your parents gave you a hard time or said no to something you really wanted, you can only then fully relate to and understand what the hell they were going on about!!
I would have to say you should get your own house first and then get a dog so you don't have to convince anyone to let you get a dog. You wouldn't want to stress your cats out by getting and dog and then moving into a new enviroment you should take it one step at a time and if you're living with your parents to save money getting a dog will not help you save money.
26....living at home.... but have money to buy a house....? and could get a dog...

Yet your on here asking how to Convince your ';stubborn'; parents....

Hmm

Move out. Sense you have the money. And get yourself a dog. Simple! You didn't need yahoo!Answers for that did you? There goes your 5 points for a well... pointless question!

btw: thanks for the points! =P
Who'll be paying for this dog and claiming it as theirs? You? If so, if you're currently saving for a house then you can't afford a dog. I suggest you wait until you have your own place, have settled in and are financially stable.
I didn't. They had dogs already, but I waited until I was living on my own to get the breed I wanted myself.

Under their roof, it's their rules.

ADD: Besides, getting a dog now really won't help your house savings. They aren't cheap!
Respect their wishes and wait till you get your own house.

Why do you want to get a dog anyway? If your trying to save money for a house, then you really don't need the extra expense of food, and vet bills!
hold and inofrmational meeting at your house. state why you want a dog and the pros and cons. parents love that, i won my parents over doing the same thing.
Wait until you get your own place. It is not fair on your parents to get a dog now if they don't want one, especially as you already have two cats which could cause friction.
Sorry. If you're still living in your parent's house then it's their rules. At 26 years old you should know that by now.
26 and living at home. Sorry but there is no convincing there. Wait to get a dog when you buy your house!
I'd wait until you moved. It's your parents house, and you already brought your two cats to their home.
I didn't. I grew up, got a job and left home - then I got my dog. Try that and see if it works!
don't get one, wait until you get your own place.
