My mom has dark brown hair and my dad has black hair. All of my grandparents had dark hair except for my grandmother who had blonde hair. I'm just wondering because all my brother and two sisters have dark and my cousins do too so I'm like the only blonde.What were the chances of my parents have a blonde child?
Being as the ';blonde gene'; is recessive, both parents must have it in order to produce a blonde child. So... even though neither of your parents appear blond, they are both 1/2 blonde (the gene was passed down a few generations to the parent without a blond parent). Given this fact, the chances of them producing a blonde child ,based totally on the laws of chance, would be 1 in 4. Also, 1 child in 4 would be pure dark (no blond gene) and 2 in 4 would be like your parents, 1/2 dark 1/2 blonde. These laws of chance come into play at the conception of each child so ';actual results may vary';
So... don't go blaming the Mailman quite yet. ;)What were the chances of my parents have a blonde child?
It's hard to tell, given that the recessive blonde gene may or may not be present in either of your parents. At most, given the basic logic of a Mendel square, I'd say 0 to 25 percent.
Yeah, that happens.
Both my parents have dark hair and brown eyes, and none of their family have blonde hair. Weirdly, 2 of their 5 kids they had, were blonde hair and blue eyed.
