What is the difference between Similac and Parent's Choice?

My daughter has been on Similac formula since she was 3 wks old (she's 3 months now). She is now going to daycare because I had to go back to work. They supply Parent's Choice formula at no extra charge, which would save us a lot of money. But my husband insists that we stick with Similac. Is there any difference? What is the difference between Similac and Parent's Choice?
I found the parents choice web site to be incredibly helpful. I dont know if your daughter is on soy or milk based formula but here are two links that have comparison charts of parents choice, enfamil, similac and nestle. It shows there is virtually no difference. Show this to your husband and enlist the help of your dr if you need to. My son has switched back and forth from enfamil to similac to nestle and never had an issue. If the day care provides formual for free I would JUMP on that!!What is the difference between Similac and Parent's Choice?
The price.
MY HUSBAND AND I SWITCHED TO PARENTS CHOICE WHEN OUR BABY GIRL WAS 2 MONTHS OLD- THAT WAS NOT GOOD AFTER SHE WAS FEED THE PARENTS CHOICE FORMULA FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS SHE HAD REALLY BAD STOMACH PAINS AND CONSTIPATION- WE TOOK HER TO THE DOCTOR THE AND HER PEDIATRICIAN TOLD US THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PARENTS CHOICE AND REGULAR ENFAMIL- THE PED. SAID THE BRAND PARENTS CHOICE WAS RECALLED A FEW YEARS AGO AND WALMART TOOK UP THE NAME BRAND AND LABELED IT PARENTS CHOICE- MY HUSBAND AND I SPOKE WITH THE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL WALMART STORE WHO CONFIRMED THAT ALSO- AND WE WERE GIVEN A FULL REFUND- I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM ANYMORE WITH ANY OTHER BRAND , BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE PARENTS CHOICE BRAND- IF YOU WANT YOUR BABY TO SLEEP WELL AND FEEL WELL- MY 3 MONTH OLD HAS SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT SOUNDLY EVER SINCE- BUT MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE ON WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOUR BABY- WE HAVE- NO PARENTS CHOICE!
We ran into the same thing. Our daycare supplied parents choice formula. We checked with our pediatrician who said that she absolutely would not recommend that we switch. She said that since our baby was doing well on Enfamil Lipil that she recommends we stick with that. We now supply our daycare with our formula. In the long run it wouldn't really save us that much since he only takes about 12oz a day during his time there.

Some other parents I'ev talked to said that their peds said there was no difference, so I think its a decision that you should make with your baby's doctor.
Yup, like everyone else said...the price. My pediatrician said it was okay. We opted for Costco brand, just b/c you get a bit more, otherwise, I would have used Parent's choice.
Yes, Similac is a better brand and well known. The price is the difference. I am sure the store brand is ok, but I just feel better with the brandnames cause my kids have been on them. The ingredients in Parents Choice are compared to those in Enfamil, not Similac, so there are differences in the amounts of nutrients also.
the only difference is the price. my hubby and i couldn't get on WIC, so we couldnt afford a $30.00 can of formula a week. so we tried the parents choice from walmart (we used the normal milk based) and my son drinks it perfectly. we only pay $11.00 for a big can instead of $30.00 !!!!!
my son has been on parents choice since he was 3 months old, and i as our PEDS about it and he said no there is no difference most of the time its the formula companies, that supplies it to them or its stuff that they are changing the can or the upc code on the can or something like that. the only difference i have noticed is that its thicker powder.. and that is it.. plus its about 15.00 cheaper a can
Biggest difference is the price. All formula has to exceed standards. As long as they are based the same (soy, lactose free, etc...) I don't think it would be bad. Just switch at home too, if you are going back to work, you probably won't get WIC anymore, if you all ready had it.
