I just sing made-up phonic songs to the kids. If we see the word e-x-i-t would just pick out one letter and sing along, looking for that letter again that day. We just find opportunities through the day to 'teach' in a fun and meaningful way.Parents, how long do you spend on teaching your child the ABCs and 123s at home before he enters kindergarten?
Mines in Pre-k and they learn a new letter everyday and the way she teaches them is to introduce the letter and have coloring pages of animals or things that start with that letter and make the noise the letter makes.
I also have movies at home that do the same like K is for Kangaroo .. etc.
But I do think it is a very good idea to spend time doing that everyday. Their attention span is not very long but if you can make it enjoyable for them, they'll hold out a little longer!
